Victorious
Covenant Prayer
Being
victorious in prayer is essential to every blood covenant believer
and to every church. It
is a driving and sustaining force to see God’s will come to
pass. We, the Haven,
are forging into our Blood Covenant Prayer Campaign. During this time of teaching
we will come to understand why a vibrant prayer life is essential to
the lives of believers and the power and necessity of having a
strong intercessory prayer team for a church seeking to fulfill
God’s will.
This
month’s subject unfolds the different types of prayer and how to get
results through your prayer life every time. Two major keys are:
1.
You must know
upon going into prayer and when you hear from God that it’s a done
deal. It may be
delayed, but not denied.
2. You must
follow the pattern of prayer to get desired results.
The Word of God
clearly tells us that prayer is a must according to Luke 18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end,
that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
Anytime God sends forth a command, He sends the instructions.
When building anything you must have instructions. The believer’s
prayer life also comes with a set of instructions….
Instructions
to Victorious Covenant Prayer
- You
must have a picture or expectation of how the end results should
look.
- You
must have instructions on how to accomplish the task.
- You
must have the confidence that the instructions are accurate versus
doing it the way and order you see fit. You need to know what to
pray. Find the
scripture that speaks the Word that has your desired results.
- You
must have the necessary tools to accomplish the task.
- Bible
- People
- Fasting
- Discipline
to follow process step by step to the end
i.
Follow
the sequence of instruction.
ii.
Ask
God before you step.
Types of
Prayer
1.
Prayer of
Supplication. Psalms30:8 “I cried to thee, O
LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication”.. A cry of
mercy. It is a heart
felt, heated, passionate prayer.
2.
Prayer of
Agreement. Matthew 18:19” Again I say unto
you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing
that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is
in heaven”.
There is a promise contained
within the prayer of agreement. When two of you agree on
anything, it’s done.
i.
The
individuals must have the same type of faith at the same level.
ii.
Must be a prayer on the earth,
not somebody in glory!
iii.
The
individuals do not have to be in the same geographical
location. Your spirits
just need to be on one
accord – praying spirit to spirit.
iv.
Individuals can ask together
at the same time or one person can speak for everyone. However,
prayer should be done in known language so there may be
understanding in the prayer of agreement.
3.
Unified Prayer. 2 Chronicles 20:1-13. The leadership leads prayer
with and for the entire body. Verse 13 states “And all Judah stood before the
LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their
children.” Here all
the people stood together on one accord in unison in
prayer.
4.
Intercessory Prayer. Romans 10:1”Brethren, my
heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they
might be saved”.. Intercessory Prayer is
standing in the gap or taking a position for someone else. There are two major reasons
for this type of prayer.
The individual(s) may not know what to pray or how to pray
for themselves.
Intercessors cannot be selfish nor distracted by their own
circumstances.
Jesus’ life and death is the ultimate example of
intercession. He
interceded on our behalf while we were yet in sin.
5.
Prayer of Healing. James 5:14 “Is any sick among
you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray
over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord”:
6.
Prayer of Deliverance. Luke 22:31-37 exposes the devil’s intention
of sifting you is so that you have no
substance left and you will then be spiritually
dead. When
you pray for deliverance, pray that the situation they are going
through does not kill them, but that they are strengthened. Pray and intercede to stop
tragedy, just as Jesus did.
7.
Prayer
of the Spirit.
i.
Praying
with the Spirit.
I
Corinthians 14:14-15
“For if I pray in an unknown
tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What
is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the
understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I
will
sing with the understanding also.” When
you pray with the
Spirit, you come into agreement with the Spirit and flow with an unction
from the Spirit. Your prayer will be led by the Spirit for what,
who, and how to pray.
ii.
Praying
in the Spirit. Ephesians 6:17
”And
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given
unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery
of the gospel, 20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein
I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” When you pray in the Spirit
you speak the Word of God.
The scripture says that the “sword of the Spirit is the Word
of God.” Effective and
fruitful prayer must agree with the Word of God. If not, you will not see the
desired results.
8.
Prayer
of Thanksgiving. Psalms
116:17 “I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will
call upon the name of the LORD.”
When we pray, angels
show up and make sure that the Word we release is carried forth and
does what it is sent out to do. However, when we begin to
add praise and thanksgiving to our prayer life, God Himself shows
up. It is in the
presence of God that the earth quakes and the flood of God’s power
comes in (See Psalms 68:7-9). Therefore, it is absolutely crucial
that thanksgiving, praise, and worship to our almighty God be a part
of the believers’ prayer life.
Be
diligent to activate these ingredients and knowledge into your
everyday private prayer time and begin to watch the glory of God
unfold in your life and in the lives of those you are praying for as
we enter into
our Victorious Covenant Prayer! Be blessed in the
knowledge of God!
